Medical & Dental Emergency Assistance

Emergencies that impact an individual’s health and well-being can have major ripple effects on other areas of their lives. When emergencies arise regarding prescription medication, eye glasses, tooth extractions, and other areas, the Council of Community Services may be able to help.

Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP)

The Low Income Energy Assistance Program offers assistance in two ways. One, helping low- and fixed-income families and individuals pay their heating bills during the winter months. The fprogram gives priority to households that include elderly (60+), disabled and/or young children (5 and under).

Seasonal LIEAP benefits are applied to a household's main heat source (the fuel your heat system uses to heat the home; not the power source needed to turn on the furnace).

LIEAP also assists with energy-related emergencies, such as utility shut-offs, deposits, cooling or heat losses due to broken heat systems. LIEAP eligibility is based on household size, total pre-tax household income, and heating fuel type (natural gas, electric, propane, heating oil, coal, wood, pellets).

Wyoming Weatherization Assistance Program

The Council of Community Services is one of only two nonprofits that provide weatherization services to low-income, vulnerable residents in the state of Wyoming. Our services help the most vulnerable members of our population save money on their energy bills and in turn, take a large burden off already struggling households.

People who are approved for assistance through LIEAP are eligible for consideration for the wetherization program.

The Weatherization Assistance Program helps households save money on home heating costs by improving energy efficiency. Weatherizing homes often means adding more insulation, sealing leaks around doors and windows, and it always includes basic health and safety checks. An energy audit determines which weatherization measures will get the biggest bang for the weatherization dollars spent on each home.

Weatherization can save 5-25 percent on heating bills.

  • On average, the value of weatherization improvements is 2.2 times greater than the cost

  • CCS is one of two non-profits providing weatherization assistance to low-income households in Wyoming

  • Online Applications for LIEAP begin October and the deadline is February. Weatherization applications are open year around.

  • CCS provides weatherization services to five counties including: Campbell, Johnson, Sheridan, Crook, and Weston County

Seconds on the Avenue

Seconds on the Avenue operates as a community thrift store and emergency closet. A voucher program is available for those who qualify, which allows individuals in need to receive clothing, household goods, and more at no cost. When donated items are sold, the proceeds come back to the Council of Community Services to help support our other programs. Approximately 20% of our revenue comes from the sale of donated items at Seconds on the Avenue. For more information, please visit Seconds on the Avenue.
