“Bringing people off the streets and into safety is how I got started in this line of work. I love being able to see our clients progress, build confidence, and meet their goals. I started with the Council in 2015 as the Program Director. I now face new challenges -that keep me on my toes- as the Executive Director. I love my work at CCS because we are genuinely trying to help people out of poverty regardless of age, gender, race, or background. I’ve made great friends and the best part is that I get to watch those friends use their talents to change lives.”

“I’ve been at the Council since 2016 and I really enjoy it because there’s such a great atmosphere here. We all get along so well and laugh a lot! Originally from the Boston area of Massachusetts, my husband and I now own a small ranch where we care for our cows, horses and 4 dogs. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking and running.”

Avery Kerman
“I was born and grew-up in California but called Colorado home for 9 years before attending the University of Wyoming. I received both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Political Science and moved up to Gillette. I have spent most of my time here working with incredible nonprofits and other local businesses and have been so amazed and grateful to live in such a kind and supportive community. I look forward to working with CCS to continue to positively impact and support the community members that need it the most. In my free time, you can find me traveling, cooking, playing tennis, or more than likely posted on the couch with my boyfriend and kitten.

“I have been with the Council for 16 years! I am the Housing Programs Manager, which means I oversee the Emergency Shelter, Apartments for Families, and Apartments for Individuals. I love to see our clients succeed, it’s why I enjoy working at CCS. I am also very involved with the Wyoming Homeless Collaborative and currently serve as the Collaborative Board’s Vice-Chair. When I’m not at work I enjoy my garden and many pets. I originally shared my home with 1 dog and 2 cats, but now house 3 dogs and 2 cats. In my spare time, I am working towards certification as a dog trainer.”

“I’m the housing case manager here at the Council and can say I have been pleasantly surprised with how much Gillette has to offer those in need. I love meeting with clients and hearing their stories so I know the best ways to help them. I’ve lived in many places, but Gillette will always be home. I have a criminal justice background and received my bachelor’s degree from Black Hills State University. I have a deep passion for psychology and all things strange or creepy. I’m an adventurer at heart and working at the Council has been one of my favorite adventures so far.”

“I’ve been with the Council for 10 years! I have worked as the Intake Specialist for the Food Pantry, and now I manage Emergency Assistance funding and am the Section 8 Intake Agent for Campbell County. I really enjoy helping people who are struggling and working to better their situation. Plus I work with a wonderful team who makes work fun! When I’m not at work I like to go to the lake or the mountains to enjoy camping and fishing.”

"I love that my job is a part of giving back to the community. I have been a part of the CCS family since August of 2019. Being able to work someplace that provides so many different services that help the community is very rewarding and I consider it a blessing. I’m originally from the small town of Worland, Wyoming and outside of work you can find me enjoying time with my family or in a quiet place reading."

Juli Rivers
Juli traded her ocean view for a pair of cowboy boots when she moved from southern California to Gillette in 2008! “It’s rewarding to have found a career in helping change peoples lives. Sharing a spirit of hope within a team that supports so many helpful resources for our community.” In Juli’s spare time she enjoys coaching her daughter for the Special Olympics! This proud hockey mom is a big cheerleader when it comes to her son playing hockey! Together the family enjoys the great outdoors, camping, hiking, motor cross, classic cars, movies and of course hockey!

“I’m originally from Gettysburg, SD – “where the battle wasn’t”. I’ve lived in Virginia, Texas, and Pennsylvania, but have called Wyoming home for the last 40 years! Here in Gillette, I am the Greenhouse (Group Home) Manager for the Council of Community Services. I enjoy the work that I do! I feel like I make a difference in people’s lives and I love seeing people’s lives change. Over time you can always see people change and improve. When I’m not working, I love to travel and see different places. I’m active in my church and have been part of Beta Sigma Phi sorority in Wright for 22 years. My son, daughter-in-law, granddaughter, and sister with her grandchildren all live here in town and I enjoy spending free time with them.”

“I grew up in Gillette but then spent 25 years away, living in 5 different states, before returning “Home”. I found my calling when I began working for the Council at the Greenhouse Group Home and have since began working in the Main Office. It is so rewarding to help people who often just need a helping hand, to give them renewed hope and a smile! I also enjoy working with all the wonderful people that I am able to call my work family. When I leave the Council, I like to spend time with my family playing games, watching movies, getting rejuvenated in nature or cheering at my favorite past time - demolition derbies! Lounging with my cat, Aquarius, is the best way to wind down my days of work and play.”

“I am the Weatherization Administrative Assistant at CCS meaning I do all the behind the scenes work for the Weatherization team. I absolutely love my job and the WAP program because I love helping others! I have been a recipient of this service in the past, so I know how big of an impact we are making in the lives of our clients. We provide weatherization services to LIEAP clients to make their homes more comfortable and energy efficient, at no cost to them. I am a Wyoming native but a Gillette transplant. I moved here from Sheridan in 2003 and graduated from CCHS soon after. I met my amazing husband in Gillette and we have 2 wonderful teenagers. I graduated from Gillette College in 2015 with an associate degree in Business. When I am not working, I am very active in my church and love spending time with my family. My hobbies include hosting dinner/game nights with my family and friends, cooking/baking, and going on fun adventures.”
